Lily Schumacher is a Chicago-based artist and sports podcaster. As a graduate of the 2022 undergraduate class at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Schumacher received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting. Having a passion for both and sports, finding a link and a space for conversation between the two subjects became a major focus for her. Her works starting in Fall of 2021 focus on baseball and the perception of baseball players from the female gaze, opening up the conversation of romanticism in the sport and the fetishization of men. This on going series functions as an in depth investigation of what draws her into the representation of men and how heterosexual women may perceive them.

Beyond her art practice, Schumacher is also a sports podcaster with a passion for baseball. She has co-hosted the sports-comedy Fudge & Meat podcast since May of 2020, acting as the Brewers and baseball expert. She also was part of the Colorcast Featured Casters program from September 2021 to the end of the program in April 2022, serving as a weekly commentator for the Green Bay Packers. Schumacher was a recipient of a Certification of Sports Broadcasting Commentary from Colorcast in December 2021. Schumacher has since been hosting a weekly MLB talk show on the app called Pitches Be Crazy since November 2021, covering trades, lock out news, and predictions. In May of 2022, the show was released as a podcast on major podcasting platforms. She also co-hosts Batflips & Chill on Colorcast, as well as being a crew member and contributor on Light 'Em Up, which as since also been distributed as a podcast on major platforms.

Schumacher hopes to continue working within both sports media and as a painter, hoping to prove that there is a space for women within the sports industry, along with being a painter who tackles a taboo topic like the sexuality of women and the female gaze. Passion drives her work and is the glue in her practices.
